B.S. Elementary Education — University of Alabama
A passionate, newly certified educator dedicated to creating inclusive, engaging classrooms where every child feels seen, valued, and excited to learn. Ready to bring warmth, creativity, and evidence-based pedagogy to your school community.
I am Lauryn G. Elliott, a graduating Elementary Education student at the University of Alabama, and my path to teaching is deeply personal. As a child, I was passed through the system without the foundational support I needed. It wasn’t until years later that I found myself quietly working to fill those gaps on my own — gaps that should have been closed by teachers who recognized my struggles and intervened. That experience didn’t make me bitter; it made me determined. I became a teacher because I know firsthand what it feels like to fall through the cracks, and I refuse to let that happen to any child in my classroom.
Throughout my program, I completed practicum placements in PreK through 4th-grade classrooms, gaining hands-on experience with diverse learners, differentiated instruction, and culturally responsive teaching practices. I am trained in both traditional and project-based learning methodologies.
Outside the classroom, I am a garden educator, a lover of children’s literature, and someone who believes that joy and rigor are not opposites — they are partners in great teaching.
My educational philosophy is grounded in the belief that every child can learn, grow, and succeed when provided with intentional instruction, meaningful support, and a nurturing environment. I believe education should build strong academic foundations while also fostering confidence, resilience, and a genuine love of learning.
Students thrive when they feel safe, valued, and encouraged to take risks, especially when learning feels challenging. I am committed to meeting students where they are, using data-informed and evidence-based practices to guide instruction, and provide targeted support that helps close learning gaps and promote steady progress.
By maintaining high expectations and pairing them with patience, structure, and encouragement, I strive to empower students to recognize their strengths, develop independence, and take pride in their academic growth.
Education is not the filling of a bucket, but the lighting of a fire. I approach every lesson as an opportunity to spark curiosity and build the confidence every child deserves.
Every student can grow. I model resilience, celebrate effort over outcome, and create a classroom culture where mistakes are fuel for learning.
Every child belongs. I build equitable classrooms where diverse backgrounds, learning styles, and needs are celebrated, not just accommodated.
Children are born scientists and philosophers. I harness their natural curiosity through questioning, exploration, and hands-on discovery.
Students learn best when they feel safe and cared for. Every interaction I have builds the trust that makes learning possible.
